It has been a while.

So it's that time of year when I find myself, with the family in Manchester (Salford Quays).
Look who turned up to help get our party started!

Specialise in Not Specialising

As my title suggests, I have always considered myself having a preference for portrait and event photography as I enjoy that interaction with people. Never thought I want to be out late on my own with a tripod and some snacks, waiting for the evening 'Golden Hour'.

Not sure what has happened but it would seem as though I'm capturing the cityscape of Manchester (well so far only Salford Quays). I'm feeling inspired to capture other cities too. Following the adage of 'shoot what you're interested in'. I've come to find Manchester a great city. Other than having family there, for me it's like a smaller, cleaner, friendlier (London) city. Even though it rains an awful lot there, it's still nice.

Anyway, it's a personal reminder to just keep my eyes open to just be shooting things I like. I've still that bag(s) of bits and bobs to do some table top images and abstracts, which I'm now hoping to get some time to make some photos with.

The above image is from my recent trip to Manchester during the August Bank holiday. You can see the BBC building at Media City and to the left, the bridge which allows access to the opposite bank where Granada TV are moving in once building has completed.

(Still thinking about investing in some better 'Glass')

Salford Quays, Media City-Salford.

These are two images from an evening spent at Media City, Salford Quays. My first outing with the D7000 for an evening shoot.

Now I'm no landscape 'tog, nor am I a lover of architecture, well, abstracted perhaps but I generally do not plan my next sunset landscape shoot. I'd rather have people in the images I make. I do like to however 'have a go', there's no harm in trying it out. I have occasionally got some shots worthy of asking my wife if she would like to see them on our walls at home (other than my photos of our children).

These two I actually may ask her if they are worthy, even though I see they are flawed by my poor choice of 'Glass'. I used my nikon 18-200mm. It's perfect for general travel imaging, but in what I see in these images are reasons that if I plan to continue with the subject of lanscape and architecture, may need to upgrade my glass. Anyway, I hope you enjoy these two images.

My Mums second visit to Manchester

Finally, my mum had accepted the invite to travel with us to Manchester. Karens Dad Allen, my father-in-law was 70 last week. A party had been arranged on Saturday 10th. During the day, I had taken my mum to see a bit of Manchester.

After we went to the Cathedral, which was actually quite nice.
More so having been given the chance to take my Mum.

Giving up for Lent

As my Mum had given up meat for Lent, she has been doing so well. Only one problem,
